Snowball is seeking submissions for an anthology of short-stories related to the after-effects of October 7th. The goal is specifically not to focus on the 7th itself, but rather on the impacts of what has come later. Given Snowball's marketing structure, the goal is stories that people will want to share - and will want not to miss out on. We also want stories that will make people think. This means coming at issues from new perspectives and doing what art often does best: finding
something precisely in those areas of moral or other uncertainty.
Our guidelines for these stories are extremely broad. They can be steampunk or contemporary. They can be sci-fi, horror or mystery. So long as the story is engaging, makes the reader think and specifically makes the reader go 'wow, so-and-so really shouldn't miss out on this' then you've got a winner.
Authors, collectively, will earn 30% of net revenues (revenues after Apple and Google get their cut). We don't want to encourage overwordiness - we want the text to be just the right length for the story it is trying to tell. Because of this, every author who takes part will receive the same % - whether they write a 20,000 word novella or a 2000 word smack in the head.
Oh, and deadlines. People love hard deadlines :( Our focus is on excellence, not time. We want a superb collection of stories with a minimum total length of 80,000 words. When we get there, we'll proceed with the anthology. How long will it take? That kind of depends on you....
More guidelines:
- We don't work with illustrations or photographs.
- We don't accept AI submissions.
- Our minimimum length is 500 words (of course, unless you write ad copy I can't imagine coming in shorter than that). Okay, if you have something excellent that is shorter, we will consider it. Just pad the form below with some Lorem Ipsum to make it happy.
- Stories must be in English, with non-English terms explained (at least through context).
- When we publish a story, we will keep exclusivity for 9 months. After that, you can do whatever you'd like with your story. Of course, we'd always welcome longer term relationships with great authors.
- You can submit more than one story.
We also welcome book submissions.
